How to Get Rid of Nausea and Vomiting?

What is nausea and vomiting?

The symptoms of many various ailments, including infection ("stomach flu"), food poisoning, motion sickness, overeating, obstructed intestines, illness, concussion or brain injury, appendicitis, and migraines, can cause nausea and vomiting. Vomiting and nausea can occasionally be signs of more serious conditions such heart attacks, kidney or liver issues, abnormalities of the central nervous system, brain tumours, and some types of cancer.

Early pregnancy, concussions, the stomach flu, and many other diseases can cause nausea and vomiting as symptoms. There are numerous ways to treat nausea, which can affect both adults and children. Ice-cold liquids and light, bland snacks can also be beneficial.

Nausea is a stomach ache that frequently precedes the urge to vomit but does not always result in vomiting. Vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents ("throwing up") through the mouth. The stomach and intestines (infection, injury, and food irritation), the inner ear (dizziness and motion sickness), and the brain are all potential causes of vomiting (head injury, brain infections, tumors, and migraine headaches).

Both children and adults can experience nausea and vomiting. Patients undergoing cancer treatments, such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy, are more likely to experience nausea and vomiting. Pregnant women in their first trimester may also experience nausea and vomiting, a condition known colloquially as "morning sickness." It is estimated that 50 to 90 percent of pregnant women experience nausea, with the remaining 25 to 55 percent vomiting.

There are several methods for controlling or relieving nausea; however, if these methods do not seem to help, consult your doctor.

When simply trying to relieve nausea:

·         Drink clear or ice-cold beverages.

·         Consume light, bland foods (such as saltine crackers or plain bread).

·         Avoid foods that are fried, greasy, or sweet.

·         Slow down and consume smaller, more frequent meals.

·         Never combine hot and cold foods.

·         Slowly sip your beverage.

·         Avoid physical activity after eating.

·         Brushing your teeth after eating is not recommended.

·         To get adequate nutrition, choose foods from all food groups that you can tolerate.

To prevent and treat dehydration, an oral rehydrating solution should be used if vomiting and diarrhoea last more than 24 hours.

Vomiting caused by surgery, radiation therapy, anticancer drugs, alcohol, and morphine is frequently treated with another type of medication. There are also prescription and over-the-counter medications that can be used to treat pregnancy-related vomiting, motion sickness, and vertigo. However, before using these treatments, you should consult with your healthcare provider.

 Try these Home remedies

1)      Ginger

Ginger supplements have been one of the most widely studied remedies for nausea and vomiting.

 2)      Fennel

Fennel seeds are thought to help with digestion. Animal studies suggest that fennel may aid in digestion, but human studies on fennel for vomiting relief are lacking.

Still, anecdotal evidence suggests that a cup of fennel tea may be worth a try the next time nausea strikes.

To make fennel tea, combine one cup of boiling water with about a teaspoon of fennel seeds. Steep until desired strength is reached, then strain before drinking.

 3)      Cloves

Cloves have been used in folk medicine to treat nausea and vomiting. To make clove tea, combine one cup of boiling water with about a teaspoon of cloves.
