What Fragrances are The Royals Wearing

There are not much regal fans don't know about the women of the Royal family. There's little left to learn about the famous family, from their favourite must-have products to their beauty rules they'll never break. Except, perhaps, for the way they smell.

While information about their pre-royalty lives and their prince and princess offspring are abundant, little is known about something equally personal to them, such as their signature scent.

Of course, perfume is not as visible as makeup, but it is undeniably memorable when it comes to fragrances.

The perfect spritz can transport you back to a monumental life event, such as a royal wedding, or connect you to a moment in time that you want to remember, such as the birth of a royal baby.

Thankfully, royal women, from Princess Diana to Kate Middleton, have been open about their perfume preferences. The best part? Non-princesses can purchase their favourite fragrances as well.

We've compiled a list of the must-have perfumes that the Royal ladies couldn't live without.

 Elizabeth II, Queen of England

Apparently, Queen Elizabeth II prefers Guerlain's 'L'Heure Bleue' fragrance. The spicy scent was created in 1912 and has floral and citrus notes with a powdery dry down. Her Majesty is said to have chosen the perfume to wear on her wedding day to Prince Phillip in November 1947, and it has remained close to her heart—and her wrists—ever since.

 Diana, Princess of Wales

When Princess Diana married Prince Charles in 1981, she chose a soft, white floral fragrance. The late Princess of Wales wore Houbiquant's Quelques Fleurs, a fragrance with tuberose, jasmine, lily of the valley, and rose. According to Diana's makeup artist, Mary Greenwell, another fragrance Diana liked was Penhaligon's Bluebell Eau de Toilette. This fragrance was described as "citrus floral with notes of lily of the valley, rose, jasmine, and a touch of clove."

 Kate Middleton

Clarence House confirmed that when Kate Middleton married Prince William in 2011, she wore 'White Gardenia Petals' by Illuminum. When Kate's wedding perfume was announced, the small brand behind the soft, floral scent became an overnight success, with reports that the scent sold out within minutes of Kate's love for it being discovered. The Duchess, on the other hand, is said to enjoy a spritz of Dior's 'Dune,' thanks to its warm, summery scent with notes of lily, bergamot, vanilla, and sandalwood.

 Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle, the newest royal, is reportedly a huge fan of perfumes. According to The Express, she has three signature scents.

"My favourite thing is fragrance." So much so that if I leave the house without them, I'll turn around and come back," she explained. "I switch between a few scents." I adore Oribe Côte d'Azur Eau de Parfum, as well as Jo Malone's Wild Bluebell and Wood Sage & Sea Salt Colognes."

 Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly famously wore a Creed fragrance called 'Fleurissimo' during her wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956, which had been commissioned as a wedding gift for her by her soon-to-be husband. The aristocratic scent fades into tuberose, violet, iris, and Bulgarian rose notes.

 Princess Caroline of Monaco

Princess Caroline of Monaco, like her mother, Grace, preferred floral-scented fragrances. 'Passion' by Annick Goutal, a delicate blend of jasmine, tuberose, ylang-ylang, and vanilla. Let's just say that Grace Kelly would approve of this timeless fragrance.
